WALKTHROUGH

Description

Homescapes: a Casual Puzzle and Home Simulation Game

A combination of puzzle game and home simulation, Homescapes allows you to renovate an old mansion while solving puzzles throughout the game. It was the successor of Gardenscapes which was also developed by Playrix. To get resources for the home renovation, you need to solve the matching puzzles in the game.

The story of the game starts as Austin, the main character, renovates the house given by his uncle. Since it is full of clutter, you may renovate the parts of the mansion such as the living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. First, you are given a budget to buy things for renovation such as plants and furniture. As you go along the game, you may buy the others with the rewards received from completing the levels. The levels to be completed are divided among the parts of the house which means renovating is done one room at a time. You may choose the game difficulty from easy to expert.

Homescapes is excellent for casual gaming when you want to be entertained during your free time. The game requires skills in thinking, solving, decorating, and mastery. Challenging puzzles require problem-solving skills to complete the milestones of the game. When you are not renovating the house, you may play the match puzzle that has stars and coins as a reward when you have solved it. These stars are used for completing tasks and coins are for buying things for the home renovation.

Aside from the puzzles Homescapes also tests your customization skills on the home renovation. The game set includes dialogues and relationships with the other characters of the game. The home simulation part of the game has the story which requires accomplishing the goals provided, however, doing this is technically optional.

Homescapes can be played for free. However, there are optional in-app purchases such as rewards and boosters for additional playing time. There are also new levels released after a few weeks. You would not run out of content to play since it has over 3000 levels and some of them are hard to finish.

Its graphics are very entertaining with the high-quality cartoon style which exactly fits the Homescapes theme. The furniture, wallpapers, and decorations used for home renovation are realistic. The game also allows you to replay the levels that you have not finished.

For new players, tutorials are available in the game that kids can also follow. Homescapes is child-friendly since it does not have any content that may be restricted to kids. However, parents should still monitor them since there are parts of the game where purchasing with real money is involved.

The gameplay is easy to follow. For the puzzles, there are only limited lives to use which makes it difficult for some to complete the levels. If you are looking for a brain challenge, this game is perfect for you.

Homescapes has mini-games that are shown as ads. These are also brain teasers that you may enjoy.

How to play

The gameplay is almost similar to Gardenscapes. The difference seen is how you can obtain power-ups and tile types. You have to match four tiles to have a rocket which eliminates the tiles across the puzzle. When you match a square in the puzzle, it will create an airplane power-up that removes a tile on the puzzle. A rainbow ball is a more powerful booster that can be gained when you match five tiles in a row or column. It will remove all the tiles that are of the same color.

To get a full blast of power-up you have to look for tiles that may have a chain reaction. Look carefully on the board to analyze which will be your first move. As you move from one stage to another, the puzzle becomes more difficult. You have to clear out jellies and boxes before you entirely clear out a tile. Finishing a level with many moves left will give you extra power-ups which you can use on the next puzzles.

For the home renovation section of the game, decorations are interchangeable by using a coin. Hold the object you like to change or move and you will be given options on how to do it.

The game starts on your first day in the house which will bring back many childhood memories. Austin will look at the old furniture and he will remember the memories with his parents. By this time, you will be given your first puzzle which you need to finish to replace an old piece of furniture.

The bed is the first one to be replaced then a small box with trophies will show up which will lead you to the next task. You will be able to move to another part of the house once you have finished renovating the other. All tasks should be completed to move on to the next. You have to complete the match-3 puzzles to get stars which are used in the completion of a room's renovation.

Current progress and a list of tasks can be viewed on the tablet which can be seen on the lower left side of the screen.

Your name and the cat's name can be changed anytime in settings. Tap on your name line to edit and the cat name line to change the pet's name. Once you are done, tap OK to save the changes. The objects in the house can also be changed once the restoration has been completed. Just tap on the object then select from the options given.

When playing Homescapes, a daily bonus is given once you have passed level 10. You will be able to track your daily game log-ins on the calendar that Austin hung. These bonuses may come in coins or boosters which you may collect to use on puzzles and renovations. If you play the game regularly, the bonuses increase and you will be rewarded once you have completed 7 days. However, if you missed a day of playing, the progress will reset and will be back to zero.

If you enjoyed renovating and solving the puzzles on Homescapes, don't forget to write a comment below.
